Tesco are in the process of rebranding all their stores in the UK from white to two-tone grey. This required preparation and coatings to the existing PVDF cladding panels, window frame spraying and door glazing framework, support columns, fascias / flashings and steelwork. As with all our contracts, a large part of the project was in preparing the surfaces to optimise the finish. We had to be especially mindful that this was a store in almost constant operation, so our work had to reduce disruption to staff and customers to a minimum.
After each surface was pressure washed to remove all contamination and loose material, it also exposed some areas of corrosion or de-laminating existing coatings. We treated the areas of corrosion with grinders to and then primed the surface with Tor-Coatings anti-corrosive primer.
It is essential when carrying out coating of framework, like window frame spraying, that the risk of over-spraying onto the glazing is eliminated. With the extensive glazing at Tesco, we masked up and sheeted all the sensitive areas prior to coating.
After preparation was completed, it was time for the application of the new coating. We chose Tor’s Unicover S Coating System, which itself comes with a 10 year warranty, giving our clients peace of mind.
The application was carried out using a combination of airless and HVLP spraying techniques to ensure an excellent finish.
