On this occasion, Lotus required an industrial epoxy floor coating contractor to carry out extensive remedial works to their paint shop floor.
For all forms of coating work, achieving the best result always relies on a thorough preparation of the existing surface. The floors in question were 10 years old, and required extensive remedial work. We carried out track shot blasting and diamond grinding of the flooring as part of our preparation work.
Like all jobs, this project had its own complexities in logistics, and with this being a multi-level building, we factored in the challenges of moving machinery and materials between floors before carrying out the work. We applied a Flowcrete Hydroseal DPM coating and SF41 epoxy resin coating to a bespoke specification.
Owing to the multi-level floors, we chose a hard-wearing Flowcrete’s flexible polyurethane coating to eliminate the possibility of slab movement, resulting in cracks appearing.
It’s always interesting to know how the spaces we prepare will be used, but we were fascinated to learn that the new epoxy floor coating was completed for the paint shop of Lotus’ new car type, the 131 Emira, which is due to replace the Elise, Exige, and Evora models.
