The plastisol coated cladding was starting to delaminate and the existing roof cladding had extensive rust and corrosion causing various leaks. In total, 4,000sqm of cladding and roof panels required cut edge corrosion repairs.
Cladding sheets are coated when they are manufactured to protect them from the elements. When these sheets are cut to size, the edges aren’t re-coated, leaving them exposed. Over time, the edges of the cladding sheets are likely to rust. This can lead to leaks and eventually lead to the cladding panels needing to be replaced. Professional cut edge corrosion repairs can prolong the lifespan of the panels – providing a much more cost effective alternative to cladding replacement.
The project at Alston Court took 6 weeks to complete in line with the bespoke Rustoleum cladding coating specification. We started by pressure washing all roof sheets; removing any cut edge corrosion which was then stripe coated with Rustoleum Noxyde anti corrosive coating. All edges of the roof sheets were taped using the Rustoleum Noxyde tape system, and the entire roof was given 2 coats of Rustoleum Noxyde.
The cladding was prepared using the same methods and finished with an additional decorative coat of Rustoleum Metal Cladding Topcoat in the clients desired colour scheme.
The surveyors and client were exceptionally pleased with the final result and a 10-year warranty was issued for the project by Rustoleum. This project can also be seen on the Rustoleum website here.
