Wyboston Lakes Resort reached out to Cladspray Solutions when they were refurbishing their existing spa building.
The building was beginning to look old and worn down, with corrosion build-up on the roof and cladding, particularly around the cut edges of the cladding sheets. The window and door frames also needed to be freshly coated along with the external air-conditioning units.
There was a tight deadline for the work to be carried out: Wyboston Lakes wanted the work done in time for their new opening, so we had to be flexible with our working hours to ensure we could complete it within the timescale.
Our team identified that the cladding, roof and window frames needed cleaning, treating, and spraying with fresh new coatings of specialist paint.
We used the Rust-Oleum Noxyde cut-edge corrosion treatment and industrial roof coating system, which is impermeable to water and highly resistant to weathering, mechanical, and chemical attack, making it a great long-term solution.
For the cladding, we used Manor High Build Vinyl Paint in the Wyboston Lakes team’s desired colour scheme. This is a rapid-dry, high-performance one-coat paint that is also anti-corrosive and self-priming.
We needed to complete this work in the early spring, meaning the conditions weren’t ideal – shorter, colder days and temperamental weather meant that we had to be ready to make changes to the team’s working hours to ensure we were working in the optimum conditions for paint application, while keeping to the agreed timeline.
It’s crucial to prepare the surfaces before spraying to ensure adhesion. We pressure washed the roof and cladding to remove the old coating, then used powered wire brushing and grinding to remove rust and corrosion. We worked to the ST3 standard when removing rust and the old coatings to leave a pronounced metallic sheen that is essential for a good standard of adhesion for the new coating.
To seal the cut edges and prevent cut-edge corrosion on the roof, we applied reinforcement butyl fleece tape.
We masked all the surfaces that needed to be protected from overspray, including windows, doors and the ground around the building. We used specialist tape and plastic sheeting to ensure everything stayed clean throughout the work.
Once the building was prepared, we used our spraying equipment to apply the Rust-Oleum Noxyde and Manor High Build Vinyl coatings across the roof, cladding, windows, doors and AC units on the gable end elevation of the spa building.
The work took around 3 weeks to complete, and Wyboston Lakes Resort were able to avoid a full replacement of the roof and cladding. The professional coatings have drastically improved the appearance of the spa building. The roof system also comes with a 15-year warranty, giving the team peace of mind that the roof is protected against weather damage and corrosion for years to come.
