Prior to the industrial epoxy floor being applied, the surface had to be prepared to ensure the smooth coverage that epoxy is known for. The surface was mechanically prepared using diamond grinding to create a fresh, open profile to the existing floor, with any damaged areas being treated with an epoxy repair mortar.
When it comes to the application of industrial epoxy floors, it’s true that the paint can be purchased online, but as well as the thorough preparation, an epoxy flooring contractor will ensure that the paint is mixed and applied to an immaculate – and manufacturer approved – standard. The paint is a two-part mixture, consisting of a resin and a hardener, which cures over time at a natural room temperature.
In the case of Kent Blaxill, we applied 2 coats of Rustoleum 9100 high build epoxy coating, finished with 1 coat of Rustoleum 9200 twin pack polyurethane topcoat. This was applied using roller application in accordance with the bespoke specification supplied by Rust-Oleum, to ensure even coverage and a uniform finish.
The result, as you can see from our pictures, is a faultless sheen. For Kent Blaxill, this gives them a surface that’s easy to clean and maintain, and is known for its anti-slip properties.
