When Tesla announced the addition of a car showroom and service centre to Norwich, they confirmed their new site address at the former Kia showroom. When a new business moves into an existing site, it usually requires renovation, if only to present a smart, professional image or match the new company’s branding. The old Kia unit was looking a little tired, with the existing cladding coating on the front elevation showing heavy de-lamination. Cladspray were contracted to carry out thorough industrial paint spraying, both internal and external, to give a fresh new look.
Internally, while the walls weren’t in need of repair, there was exposed silver cladding that required painting to give a fresh new look. Interior paint spraying covers large areas in a small amount of time. This highly cost-effective solution, means less disruption and downtime. It also gives a flawless and high-quality finish, that can’t be achieved with more traditional methods.
As well as the interior paint spraying, we were also instructed to apply an epoxy floor coating. We used our Husqvarna diamond grinder to prepare the floor for a smooth finish. Once the surface was fully prepared, we applied two coats of Mouse Grey RAL 7005 paint, giving a smooth, lustrous result.
With industrial cladding spraying, the finished article is only as good as the preparation. For each surface area that was to be re-sprayed, we pressure washed to remove all contamination and loose material, at the same time exposing any areas of corrosion or de-laminating that would require extra attention.
The sensitive areas of the premises like the existing glazing was masked and sheeted to eliminate overspray, then once all preparation and masking was complete, we were ready to spray apply Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin to all areas, in Tesla’s desired colour scheme.
We needed to get the exterior spray painting completed in one visit, so Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin was chosen for the job. The paint is ideal for airless spraying and the self-priming system eliminated the need to use a primer first. With a super-fast drying time and a recoat time of just one hour, it meant that we could apply multiple coats in one day. Due the number of other trades on-site, it was also essential to use a low VOC, water based product. With its durability and long lasting finish of up to 15 years, Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin was the perfect product for this project.
